COVID-19 Donations and Response Fund

Rush is accepting a variety of donations that support response efforts across our hospital system.

With top-ranked care and a hospital built for an infectious disease outbreak, Rush is uniquely prepared to handle a response to a pandemic like COVID-19. Your confidence and support makes our health care heroes even stronger. With your help, we can continue to obtain the resources needed to keep our community safe.

FAQs about coronavirus (COVID-19) donations

can have an immediate impact on the work of our coronavirus response team and on the populations we serve. And now, thanks to the generosity of two anonymous donors, all gifts to Rush's COVID-19 response will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, until we reach $1 million raised.

  • Gifts to the strengthen our team’s ability to make the Chicago area healthier and safer, providing the tools, technology and resources to care for critically ill patients and increase capacity for testing. Your gifts also help with meals, PPE, childcare and other services for frontline staff and provide support for patients and their loved ones.
  • Gifts to the speed our ability to study — and ultimately understand — COVID-19, supporting everything from the analysis of clinical data to the collection and storage of vital biospecimens.
  • Even as today’s clinical teams combat COVID-19, hundreds of future health care professionals continue their Rush University education virtually. Gifts to the assist those who are facing financial hardship due to the virus, allowing these students to focus on their academic coursework.

Rush University Medical Center: If you would like to donate food to staff, please contact Laura Raymond in Philanthropy. To ensure we maintain high food safety standards for our staff, we require that donations come from professional restaurants and/or caterers. We would be happy to provide a list of local vendors. All food donations are being tracked and drop-offs are organized through Room 500.

Rush Oak Park Hospital: If you would like to donate food or food gift cards to staff contact John Zasadil in Food and Nutrition. John will help coordinate and set-up a time for donation drop-off. Donations are dropped off at the main lobby, 520 S. Maple Ave., Oak Park. It is pertinent to get in contact with John before dropping off food donations or food gift cards.

While Rush does not have a shortage of personal protective equipment, or PPE, contributions to our supply are welcome and helpful. People can donate all types of PPE as long as they are unopened and unused. Rush cannot accept any handmade supplies such as masks or gowns, and will only accept donations if they are of hospital quality.

Because we do not know how long this outbreak will last, it is important that we continue to accept PPE donations so we can stay prepared for future surges.

Rush University Medical Center: To donate PPE supplies, email Rush Supplies or Quincy Stanley, associate vice president for supply chain operations. Quincy’s staff will help coordinate and set up a time for the donation drop-off. Donations are dropped off at 711 S. Paulina St. and must go through security. It is pertinent to get in contact with Stanley and his staff before dropping off donations as security needs to be notified ahead of time.

Rush Oak Park Hospital: To donate PPE supplies, email Judy Neubert, Director, Supply Chain. Judy will help coordinate and set-up a time for donation drop-off. Donations are dropped off at the main lobby, 520 S. Maple Ave., Oak Park. It is pertinent to get in contact with Judy before dropping off donations.

Useful PPE donations include the following:

  • N-95 masks or surgical masks
  • Face shields
  • Any type of disinfectant – hand sanitizers, sani wipes, etc.
  • Isolation gowns
  • Gloves
